The Role As an Accounting Technician, you'll be an integral part of the Administrative Services Department. You'll take on responsibilities like: Reviewing and processing invoices for city expenditures. Preparing and organizing checks for review and approval. Reconciling daily deposits for accuracy and addressing miscoded entries. Monitoring petty cash accounts. Managing accounts receivable in collaboration with city departments. Preparing 1099s for vendors. Preparing annual reports for external agencies. Assisting with payroll as part of cross-training with the Accountant position. What We're Looking For We're seeking a candidate with: Knowledge of public and governmental accounting principles and practices. Hands-on experience with bookkeeping and accounting tasks like accounts payable, receivable, and payroll. Ability to multitask and problem solve. Superior customer service skills. An Associate of Arts degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. At least two years of progressive accounting/finance experience in a public agency or private firm. A combination of education and experience that allows you to excel in this role will also be considered. Why Lafayette? Competitive Salary: $65,549 - $91,638 annually Outstanding Benefits: City-paid contributions to a 401-A retirement plan (10% of salary) with optional 5% match. The City does not participate in PERS. Subsidized health, dental, life, and disability insurance up to 95%. Alternatively, you can keep up to 15% health allowance as deferred compensation if you have alternate coverage. 13 paid holidays and up to 25 vacation days annually (based on tenure).
