CUHSD will be offering summer sessions at Del Mar High School with students from multiple sites within the District. We are looking for passionate educators seeking an opportunity to support success for all students.Extended School Year programs will occur on one campus to facilitate student transportation and support needs. Specialized Academic Instruction classes may occur at the site with the Director of Special Education.General DescriptionThe Principal is expected to maintain a safe, caring student-centered environment that promotes high academic and ethical standards among students and staff. Provides leadership and an accountability system consistent with the schools' and District's philosophies, policies, and procedures. The principal is responsible for the supervision and outcome of all aspects of the educational program of the assigned school. The principal provides an organization and management model that promotes and encourages an efficient and effective educational program that satisfies the needs and aspirations of students, parents, and staff.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participates in the selection and assignment of classified and certificated personnel so that the school operates successfully and to the advantage of students.
  • Develop and administer school plans and organizational procedures, including student activities and discipline procedures; promote a healthy and safe student learning environment; ensure compliance with District policies and procedures.
  • Maintains ongoing two-way communication with faculty and staff in support of the school's and District's goals, as well as day-to-day operations.
  • Facilitates communication between support staff, teachers, parents, students, and the District office.
  • Represent the school to the District office, outside agencies, and the community; maintain effective community relations.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents; provide information. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints from parents and the general community.QualificationsEducation and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Successful teaching and/or administrative experience at the comprehensive or alternative high school level
  • Valid California driver's licenseKnowledge of:
  • Standard and alternative learning theories
  • Effective models of positive behavior support systems and current California Education Code surrounding student rights, discipline, and maintaining school safety
  • Current models of restorative justice as they relate to the educational environment
  • A variety of alternate education approaches/environments
  • Effective, research-based instructional strategies that address the instructional needs of at-risk and/or special needs students, such as culturally relevant pedagogical approaches, SDAIE, SAI, and standards-based/project-based learning
  • Effective models of technology integration in the classroom; blended and other online learning environmentsAbility to:
  • Demonstrate skills in working with learners of all abilities and backgrounds
  • Communicate professionally and effectively in written and oral forms
  • Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate expertise in student behavior management that promotes optimal school climate
  • Promotes a fair and consistent student discipline policy
  • Demonstrate expertise in teaching methodologies, instructional strategies, effective teaching practices, and coaching
  • Identify and respond to community and District issues, concerns, and needs
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with District and site staff, parents, students, and the community
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; prepare clear and concise reportsContacts:Daily contacts with students, staff, parents, summer school district office management team members.Physical Effort/Work Environment:High school office environment.Calendar and Compensation$13,500.00 stipend (gross) prorated to 22.5 days ($13,806.82) for full-time contracts [assumes full attendance]Three (3) hours of Aeries training required by April 2025Summer School Dates
