Android Engineer, ChatGPT Core ExperiencesThe ChatGPT Core Experiences team supports the OpenAI mission by innovating and evolving the Core UX design, technical architecture, and essential features of the Web, iOS, and Android ChatGPT client experiences. We focus on horizontal improvements that strategically empower vertical product development across our organization, enabling the launch of industry-leading feature capabilities.About the RoleWe are looking for a senior Android engineer to lead the development of new features and client foundational/architectural improvements across the ChatGPT Android client. In this role, you will:

• Build and ship new features that push the boundaries of research and product innovation, bringing delightful and impactful AI experiences to Android users.
• Plan and implement foundational client architecture improvements, focusing on optimizing performance, reliability, and scalability for the Android platform.
• Drive client-side GraphQL migrations, collaborating with backend teams to adopt and integrate GraphQL, improving data fetching efficiency and developer productivity.
• Optimize Android platform infrastructure to support development, testing, and deployment of these product and architectural improvements.
• Work closely with research, product, design, and data science teams to ensure alignment and success in shipping innovative AI-driven features for Android.How We WorkOur team prioritizes quality by focusing on latency, performance, reliability, and user delight. • Have experience migrating to or using GraphQL for efficient data fetching, and collaborating with backend teams to drive this adoption.
• Enjoy solving complex architectural challenges to optimize performance, scalability, and developer productivity on Android.
• Value developer enablement, making it easier for other teams to deploy, test, and scale their work within the Android ecosystem.
