You'll form the core AI team around which many AI applications will be built and shipped.The AI team aims to revolutionize the operation of security and compliance programs by streamlining the tedious Q&A process in security reviews and arming our users with actionable insights based on their business context and Vanta's subject matter expertise.As a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer, you will be working alongside a multidisciplinary group of Product engineers, other MLEs, PMs, and security and compliance experts to implement, scale, and maintain ML pipelines to provide value to our users.What you'll do as a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer at Vanta:

• You'll be conceptualizing, designing, and evaluating AI/ML solutions from both a platform and a product perspective.
• You'll collect, analyze, and synthesize findings from data and improve performance of AI systems through training, fine-tuning, and RLHF.
• You'll partner with product teams to define product strategies and drive directions for Vanta's AI offerings.
• You'll work with other engineers to architect and implement a scalable ML infrastructure, including data pipeline, monitoring, and LLM-specific pipelines (LLM-Ops).
• You'll research and apply state-of-the-art techniques in machine learning to improve model performance, and convert research output into best practice, production-grade software.How to be successful in this role:
  • You are a strong coder.
  • You have experience building ML systems from ground up, shipping ML solutions to production, and owning the full ML development lifecycle.
  • Expertise in building, deploying and maintaining LLM-based applications in production: embeddings, RAG, Agent, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning.
  • Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, model evaluation techniques, and quality hill-climbing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $215,000.
