We provide innovative yet practical solutions through a holistic approach to building construction and performance.As a Senior Design Engineer at Southland Industries, you'll work on design-build and design-assist projects in healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets. You'll collaborate with model coordinators, estimators, and trade staff to create practical, efficient, and cost-effective designs.What you'll do:

• Serve as design professional at project team design meetings.
• Prepare complex preliminary Bluebeam design layouts for estimating.
• Perform complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, etc.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues during construction.
• Supervise or direct the workflow of less-experienced engineers in performing HVAC or other system designs.
• Provide conceptual design for specific projects.What you Need to be Successful:
• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience minimum, 10+ years experience preferred, specifically in HVAC design.
• PE License required.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, piping, etc.
• Understanding of Process Piping is a plus.
• Ability to manage and mentor junior engineers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong public speaking skills.Required Skills:
• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years minimum, 10+ years preferred experience specifically in HVAC building design.
• PE License required.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc.
• Capable of using REVIT.
• Process Piping knowledge a plus.
• Strong computer skills, including Revit, CADD and Microsoft Office Products.Benefits:
