Job Description:
This role is onsite 5 days a week in Fremont, CAThe Workers
Compensation and Insurance Manager is responsible for developing,
maintaining, managing and implementing all facets of the company's
insurance portfolios; establishing standards and procedures for all
matters related to insurance claims; working with insurance
provider(s) and adjustors regarding all claims not handled by the
company's attorneys; partnering with internal teams to meet
organizational goals of employee coverage, safety, security and
effectiveness and company needs surrounding its insurance
portfolio; and partnering with other members of the Company as it
relates to insurance claims. This position reports to the VP of
Legal.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develops a comprehensive process to administer and resolve
workers compensation claims from inception to conclusion.
- Manages the workers compensation claims including
investigations, settlements, and litigation including coordinating
with external legal counsel.
- Assesses possible exposure to the company from workers
compensation and establishes reserves, as appropriate.
- Escalates claims to VP of legal as appropriate.
- Collects and analyzes documentation, statistics, reports, and
industry benchmarks.
- Reviews and recommends solutions such as safety and security
policies, and worker trainings as related to workers'
compensation.
- Reviews and analyzes metrics and data in employee claims and
activity that could uncover fraudulent behavior.
- Drafts and presents workers compensation reports and proposals
to leadership and senior staff.
- Partners with People teams, Safety, and Finance at the
corporate level.
- Leads negotiations of Company's insurance portfolios (includes
all lines such as workers compensation, auto, cargo, etc.).
- Serves as liaison between Company and outside partners such as
carriers, brokers, case managers and other related groups in order
to identify quantitative and qualitative insurance solutions for
the Company and then make recommendations to senior leadership on
available programs.
- Identifies and analyzes critical issues and implements or
recommends solutions related to the Company's insurance
portfolio.
- Establishes best practices including standard claims services,
assigned adjusters, investigators, defense counsel and others by
carrier.
- Oversees incident reporting and complex claims investigations,
ensuring timely resolution of Carrier covered and/or self-insured
claims.
- Ensures proper reporting, data collection and cataloging
regarding all incidents that may potentially give rise to a
claim.
- Collaborates with internal legal counsel on litigated files,
coordinating the discovery process and assists in formulating
defense strategies.
- Engages with carriers to ensure alignment with Company
guidelines and best practices in claim handling.
- Compiles and presents monthly loss run and litigated file
reports and conducts claim review meetings with senior level
leadership and respective 3rd parties.
- Provides guidance and recommendations to the C-Suite and other
senior leaders on incident handling and risk management.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop and draft
SOPs and ensure proper dissemination and adoption of the same to
and amongst the field.
- Identifies, develops, and presents standardized tools and
methodologies for effective risk management, including analysis,
budgeting, reporting, and documentation to senior leadership.
- Proactively addresses potential risks, develops mitigation
strategies, and escalates issues promptly to appropriate senior
leadership.
- Collaborates with the Finance department and other teams on
claims-related financial analyses, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.Benefits

- The US base salary range for this full-time position is
$139,000 - $163,000
- This role may be eligible for discretionary bonus, incentives,
and benefits.
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and
location.Please note that the compensation details listed in US
