Field Reliability Engineer, High Voltage Systems, CybertruckThe
Field Reliability Engineering team's mission is to improve customer
experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues, in
collaboration with a large cross-section of other Engineering
teams.Engineers on the team are responsible for one or more vehicle
systems for Model S/3/X/Y; Semi or CyberTruck (specific to EVs and
High Voltage or traditional Automotive components). This is a very
hands-on individual contributor role with duties focused on failure
analysis and root causes activities.We are seeking a multi-faceted
Electrical or Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for all
aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing
countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting infotainment,
low voltage, or power electronics components.To be effective, the
Field Reliability Engineer will need to be intimately familiar with
the detailed behavior of these electro-mechanical assemblies and
the tools and equipment used in their design and manufacture. They
will work with other Engineering teams to quickly mitigate and
implement countermeasures of field issues to improve quality,
reliability, and durability of the products.What You'll Do
- Monitor products field performance, identify trending issues.
Prioritize based on severity, occurrence, and/or cost of each
failure mode.
- Detailed failure analysis, identifying root-cause of problems -
Perform board-level, component, or system level debugging to
isolate faults for physical FA.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical engineering, and PCBA
manufacturing to drive containment and corrective action
implementation into production/design/supplier/Firmware.
- Communicate field performance of the engineering system, gather
buy-in from engineering peers and leadership on improvement
priorities and urgency.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and take
preventive actions.
- Share lessons learned from previous field issues; provide
upfront feedback by participating in design reviews to ensure
product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are
identified and risks mitigated (DFMEAs).
- Take part in ongoing optimization of the products and processes
(performance, cost, technology).What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical, Power Electronics, Electronics,
Mechatronic, or equivalent experience.
- Prior applicable experience desired; preferably in a hands-on
role such as Failure Analysis/Quality/Service in consumer
electronics or automotive.
- Ability/experience to navigate existing software/firmware tools
and logs to identify and label failure modes encountered.
- For entry-level candidates, Co-ops, or participation in student
competitions such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or Solar vehicle.
- A broad technical background with the ability to work with
engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers across a wide
variety of issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
are an absolute requirement to establish effective working
relationships within Tesla and outside.
- Exceptional problem-solving and failure analysis, strong
attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
- Proficient in PCBA level troubleshooting and debugging.
- Demonstrated success in applying statistical methods and
tools.
- Ability to use tools and business system applications to
manage, synthesize, and interpret data.
- Programming Languages & Tools: Python, Minitab, JMP or similar
are a strong plus.Compensation and BenefitsAlong with competitive

Compensation$84,000 - $222,000/annual salary + cash and stock
awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple
individualized factors, including market location, job-related
knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package
for this position may also include other elements dependent on the
position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans
will be provided if an employee receives an offer of
